Herning Part # 1

The first time in Herning has passed by, school has started, i've settled in, and really started to adjust to my life here.. It already feels a bit like home, and I'm positive that the 1.5 years here is gonna be very good.

To this day, things have been really positive. We started school last monday, 160 students in the full top-up BA programme at TEKO, divided into four different profiles: Fashion Design, Retail Design, Pattern Design and Branding & Marketing Management. So these past seven days have been a lot about networking and cross disciplinary projects, to be able to get to know all the international students, and not just the class you're in. Never before have i heard the word "Networking" as much as i have for this past week. On our second day at school we had a 2 hour lecture on Networking, and the importance to already start networking with your fellow students now, cause there is so much different talent in each one of us, and some day if we want to start up our own business we are gonna need a little bit of everyones talent :-) So enlightening! And never before have i been so open and talkative before. It's like i'm a whole new person here, getting to know a lot of different people and taking charge, which feels so great! Some of the new students (just like myself) even said that they thought that i had done the AP degree at teko as well, and that it didn't seem as though i just moved here :-D .

So last week was of course very much of that. We also celebrated Jas's 21st birthday last tuesday, went out with some folks from school on friday (@Baren) and were invited to a birthday party for a girl from school saturday.
Yesterday the "Insync" project ended off with a nice brunch and a hand-out of the newspaper we had been working on the past week.

Today the real classes started, where we indulged in some User Driven Innovation and Contemporary Approached to Branding. This semester is filled courses that seem really awesome! :-)

Tomorrow i'm off from school, so i'm gonna go knock on some doors and hopefully a job will appear soon :-) And then there is the first portion of homework that has to be done... now it starts! :-)

This week isn't filled with a bunch of plans yet, it seems like Herning and the teko students are much more spontaneous than that, but most of us are going to a BBQ friday evening, which is mostly thought for the 1st semester students who started school yesterday, but we are invited too :-)

So is someone gonna come visit me soon? :-D

xoxo Sof,

Moving to Herning

I'm quite sure it's not news to anyone of you that i just recently moved to Herning.
I've been packing up my stuff in my Nørrebro appartment piece by piece for these past 2 weeks, and friday i moved all my stuff from Nørrebro. I almost managed to carry all my stuff down to the entrance before my parents got there, so my legs are still sore from walking up and down the stairs to the 4th floor about 20 times :-) Then my parents came with the trailer and we carried the rest of the stuff down, and started packing, surprisingly though i didn't have quite as much as i expected. Of course, it's a standard Nielsen thing to always be hungry, so we had to make a pit-stop at my local "Koekn" for some fiske deller and potatoes :-) Then once we were done with that i waved goodbye to my Nørrebro life (at least farewell and see you later type wave) then we continued to Amager to move Jas' stuff... Carrying down bags and... no wait, just bags :-D and finishing in no time :-)

Then we let Jas to her cleaning and drove back to Espergærde for the night. I had a nice "last-meal-on-Sjælland" sitting outside at the gorgeous Divino restaurant eating lasagne and sharing a beer with my dad :-)

Then the days came for the big Herning move! Of course i had a bunch of stuff at the mill as well, so once we filled that into the trailer it was totally packed! We literally couldn't fit one more thing! Okay, maybe a pillow, but thats it :-)

On top of a good breakfast (of course!) we drove towards Vanløse where we picked up Jas, and then the roadtrip towards Herning finally started. We only did one pit-stop on the way, and were in Herning around 3 pm. My new appartment is located right by the station in Herning, or it's literally on top of the station since the elevators stops at the first floor at DSB and 7-11 and i live on the forth floor :-) Anyways, i turned the key to the new place, and was so excited to step into my new penthouse appartment, which is just so perfect for me!
We started unpacking the trailer, and after a bit of carrying and trouble with the elevator we were done a few hours later...

In the evening dad invited us out for dinner, and we found a local American restaurant where a nice burger and free soft-ice bar was much appreciated after this event. Of course in the evening i couldn't stop myself from unpacking a bit, but had to call it a night when i was just walking around myself in pure tiredness :-) Sunday morning i sent dad off, and continued my unpacking.... And was actually done in the afternoon..

After that Jas and i went for a walk to the school to check it out.... Apparently Herning is just super weird with its weather, cause everytime i go outside, i get soaking wet! The weather shifts all the goddamn time, but besides that there's nothing to complain about :-)

Today was the first day of school at TEKO, and i was super excited about it all!
Overall i got a really great impression of the school, nice campus, nice surroundings, nice people and a serious education with a really awesome schedule for the rest of this semester :-D

Now i apologize for the word-bombing, but a lot has happened these past few days, so i thought you'd all like to hear about it :-) But what most of you probably want to hear is that i'm really happy to be hear, and i'm excited about living here, learning new stuff at TEKO and making new friends :-D

Anyways, from word-bombing to photo-bombing; here you go :-)

xoxo Sof,
